I’d love to lay claim to roots in New Mexico, but I’m a transplant. I moved from a town in Utah where the unofficial song was “I’m not from here, I just live here,” so I’m no stranger to the concept. They don’t call New Mexico the “Land of Entrapment” for nothing - it now feels like home.
I ultimately returned to UNM after my emergency ultrasound fellowship for many reasons, but foremost among them that our residency rocks and the patient mix is unique, diverse, and challenging. The clinical community is collegial and the academic support is heads above the rest.
Like so many others in emergency medicine, I am a lifelong outdoor fanatic. I’ve been climbing for more than twenty years, and I mountain bike, fly fish occasionally, do yoga when my back spasms, and more recently have taken up running. I’m still discovering the variety and quality of all outdoor pursuits NM has to offer.
