Sandra Macias McBride was born in El Paso, Texas where she completed a Master of Science degree in biology with an emphasis in chemistry. During this time she also volunteered at several of the free area medical clinics. This is where she first realized her true calling was in medicine and her drive to serve the underprivileged developed. To her surprise, she noted a significant health disparity secondary to limited medical access in this particular area of the nation.
Sandra subsequently attended medical school at the University of North Texas, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she volunteered at several of the free clinics there. She went on to complete her pediatric residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-El Paso. While in residency she assisted in opening a free medical clinic near the Ysleta Reservation that now serves some of the most underprivileged individuals in El Paso. It is through these experiences that Sandra now aspires to open additional free clinics to assist those most in need. She also hopes to one day provide free international emergency pediatric medicine by assisting in educating local physicians in Mexico.
