Name: David Pollack
Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK
Life before med school: I've split most of my life between Oklahoma and California – so it makes sense to being doing residency in between! In undergrad I majored in philosophy, did my fair share of pipetting, then hopped curbs in an ambulance and got the bug for EM working as an EMT before med school.
Med school: UC San Diego
Worst/best job: Worst job was probably an ill-fated lawn mowing business as a teenager; best was tutoring physics or being an EMT.
Hobbies: Being outside (hiking, backpacking), playing fretted instruments, frisbee golf, deep conversations over craft beer, exploring new places and foods, crossword puzzles and trivia
Favorite band: My tastes are a bit all over the place. Grew up listening to a lot of classic rock and Motown (nobody's better than the Reverend Al Green), these days mostly Indy rock.
Favorite movie: Memento
Why Albuquerque: I did an away rotation here and was blown away by the pathology, down-to-earth faculty who were dedicated to teaching, and awesome residents. Plus, ABQ has mountains and burritos.
