Class of 2020

Saint Louis University SOM

Hometown: Hinsdale, IL

Undergrad: Pacific Lutheran University

Life before med school: I spent a lot of time road tripping between my midwest childhood home and the west coast for school. By taking a lot of detours along the way, I discovered much of the US and learned I belong in the mountains!

Med school: Saint Louis University School of Medicine

Worst/best job: Best job I ever had was taking middle schoolers backpacking in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. It’s a crazy beautiful place to be everyday and middle schoolers are total goofs.

Hobbies: Anything outside in the sun, water or snow. I am always looking for a hike, climb or river trip to get out. Recently I have been learning how to ski, packraft, and trying to keep things alive in my garden. Also, feeding people! No really, I love to cook and come from a big Italian family so it has always been a big part of my life.

Favorite band: Trampled by Turtles, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, My Morning Jacket, Devil Makes Three

Favorite movie: My Blue Heaven, Stranger than Fiction, Children of Men

Why Albuquerque: I fell in love with the culture, history, geography and patient population after just a few days on my away rotation. No where else will you have the range of patients and the opportunity to serve a truly county population within the support of an academic institution. You couldn’t ask for a group of residents, faculty and support staff that were more welcoming, supportive, fun and down to earth. The southwest also presents a new environment and culture to explore. Lastly there is the green chili and tamales…need I say more?
