Why Albuquerque: I rotated here and loved the community inside the hospital as well as outside. The teaching was fantastic and everyone I worked with was genuine, competent, and dedicated to teaching. As the only Level 1 in the state, I knew the clinical training would be amazing. The faculty also work on some incredible international projects. Coupled with amazing wilderness and outdoor recreation opportunities I knew it would be a great fit.
Life Before Med School: I think I was the only person in my high school class to head west of the Mississippi, I ended up at MSU and lived in Bozeman for 7 years. During/after college I worked as an EMT for the only transport agency in Bozeman, MT and got exposed to good mix of things. I was also lucky enough to travel all around the American west and Canada climbing and exploring. I also spent some time traveling around India and Nepal, my time there planted a seed and I hope to get back there to work on a health project.
Hobbies: I love climbing, skiing, trail running, playing my guitar, trying to learn the banjo, and reading good books.
Worst/Best job: Worst job was probably bagging groceries in high school or cleaning the cafeteria in college, those hours went by sooooo slowly. Best job was probably working as a research assistant with 2 of my best friends, start experiment... go climbing, stop experiment... or working medical standby at a guest ranch in the Crazy Mountains.
Favorite Band: Kind of all over the place, but Zeppelin is always up there, Paul Simon, Allman Brothers, Talking Heads, Daft Punk, Disclosure, Waylon Jennings…….
Favorite Movie: The Big Lebowski is one of those movies that gets better every time you watch it.
