Life before med school: I took a long and winding road to medical school. I worked as a counselor in Portland, Oregon and then taught high school science- 9th grade general science and 10th grade biology in inner city Philadelphia. I was also the head coach of the boys’ varsity basketball team, the student activities coordinator, service learning coordinator and drumline instructor. After teaching, I worked as an emergency department tech and clinical researcher in the Emergency Department at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Before starting medical school, I went on a solo backpacking adventure around the world.
Hobbies: Traveling! I try to leave the country as much as possible to explore our incredible world and its many amazing cultures. 15 countries and counting. I’m also a pretty serious Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
