Heather Orth, MD
Class of 2017
Undergrad: University of Colorado-Boulder
Med School: Washington University in St. Louis, MO
Hometown: Denver, Colorado
Why Albuquerque: I wanted to be somewhere I could consistently speak Spanish with patients and with a balance of hard-working plus fun-loving feel. I miss the mountains and outdoors/trails now, so I’m super excited to see some mountains in the distance every day again.
Life Before Med School: I grew up in the Denver metro area. Spanish and Molecular Biology undergrad. Loved biking or skiing in the Colorado mountains on the weekends. Also spent a year doing immunology research after undergrad at the University of Colorado-Denver Medical Center.
Hobbies: Anything outdoors. Running, cycling, hiking, skiing. Traveling and having random adventures with friends. Drinking coffee, good chocolate, trying new foods. Reading novels if a quiet day is in order.
Worst/Best job: Worst job was a mall sales associate at Forever 21. Best job was being a Starbucks barista!
Favorite Band: I like variety too much to pick a single favorite, but this year I’ve liked the new One Republic when traveling and not able to stream Pandora stations
Favorite Movie: Anything with superheroes
Anything else interesting: I’m a certified scuba diver but I’ve only lived in landlocked states
