Class of 2020

Baylor COM

Hometown: Born in York, PA → Toluca, Edo. de Mexico, Mexico → Sugar Land, TX

Undergrad: Texas A&M University

Life before med school: From the ages of 9 to 16 I lived just outside Mexico City with my family where I picked up Spanish and my love for spicy food. My time in Mexico is also the reason why I call limes “lemons”, and lemons “yellow lemons.” I finished high school in Texas where I played on the varsity golf team. I earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting during college and went straight to medical school after graduating.

Med school: Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX

Worst/best job: Being an RA in college was simultaneously the best and worst job. It was the best job when I got to plan fun dorm events (pizza yoga party, geocache adventure race, etc) that were funded by the dorm. But it was also the worst job every time I got paged in the middle of the night to go unlock a door for a resident who forgot their key.

Hobbies: rock climbing, exploring, amateur watercolor painting, Lindy Hop swing dancing, live music

Favorite band: Lake Street Dive

Favorite movie: Nacho Libre - I can and do quote it more than a grown woman should

Why Albuquerque: I rotated here as a 4th year medical student and felt that the program was a perfect fit for me. I spent nearly all of my free time outdoors. July in Albuquerque was hot, but a dry paradise compared to Houston in July. I rock climbed, ran, hiked, got lost, drank beer, and ate green chile. I look forward to the winters when I can finally own a season ski pass!
