William McNitt, MD
Class of 2017
Undergrad: Reed College
Med School: OU-Tulsa School of Community Medicine
Hometown: Boulder, Colorado
Why Albuquerque: The program looks like a fun group of people with a sense of humor, the town has ample opportunities for me to get outside when I’m not in the ED, and I wanted to stay west of the Mississippi.
Life Before Med School: Spent a year in grad school doing bench research on cholera and pseudomonas before realizing that I needed more human interaction and defected to med school. Enjoyed a great year of climbing, skiing, and generally being in the outdoors while I applied to med school.
Hobbies: Backpacking, fishing, biking, baking, duck hunting, eating, and seeking out new and interesting beers and ciders.
Worst/Best job: Worst job was working in grad school moving these tiny volumes of clear liquid from one tube to another hundreds of times a day. I’d drift off halfway through a rack of tubes and have to start over again or just plain lose the day’s work.
Favorite Band: Linkin Park
Favorite Movie: Lord of the Rings trilogy
