Class of 2020

University of Colorado SOM

Hometown: Jemez Springs, NM

Undergrad: University of Colorado at Boulder

Life before med school: I grew up in New Mexico and went to Colorado for College. In between undergraduate school and medical school I enjoyed traveling, rock climbing, and working as a paramedic.

Med school: University of Colorado Anchutz Medical School

Worst/best job:

  • Best Job: Ocean Lifeguard: Surfing and sunsets…doesn’t get much better.
  • Worst Job: Indoor Pool Lifeguard: 8 hours lap swimming = eternity.

Hobbies: Rock Climbing, Reading, Cooking, Computer Games, Hiking, Camping

Favorite band: Can’t pin this down. Lucero, Hozier, Sia, Avett Brothers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sam Smith

Favorite movie: The Battlestar Galactica TV Series, The Rock, The Departed, Avatar the Last Airbender (Anime Series)

Why Albuquerque: Location, Quality of Training, and Family. Albuquerque has amazing access to hiking, rock climbing and skiing which are all important to me. The location and characteristics of UNM Hospital provides a varied and in-depth experience in both patient population and disease conditions. And finally, family is close by for both my partner and I.

Anything else interesting: My greatest fear is to be stuck in a room full of people eating crisp apples. The sound gives me a feeling akin to nails on a chalk board.
