Innovation, Discovery and Training Complex
The Innovation, Discovery and Training Complex is a research facility that covers several areas of medicine, emergency and otherwise. It houses the Center for Molecular Discovery, the Center for Digestive Diseases Research, the Emergency Medical Services Academy, and the Center for Disaster Medicine.
The UNM hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the UNM School of Medicine. The hospital operates New Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center, treating nearly 90,000 emergency patients and more than 450,000 outpatients annually. The Barbara & Bill Richardson Pavilion, which opened in the spring of 2007, added nearly 500,000 square feet of emergency and clinical space uniquely configured for medical efficiency and patient safety, and fitted with cutting-edge imaging, laboratory and surgical technology.
Established in 1994, the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is the largest academic health complex in the state. Located on the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the HSC combines its four missions areas - education, research, patient care and community outreach - to provide New Mexicans with the highest level of health care.
Founded in 1889, the University of New Mexico now occupies nearly 800 acres along old Route 66 in the heart of Albuquerque, a metropolitan area of more than 900,000 people. The mission of the University of New Mexico is to serve as New Mexico’s flagship institution of higher learning through demonstrated and growing excellence in teaching, research, patient care, and community service.
